This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard.

They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.


  • The student must be 18 years of age or over
  • Have sound communication skills:
    • Provide IELTS certificate showing a score of 5.5 or above (or equivalent)
    • Undertake and successfully complete The One International College Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment and achieve ACSF Level of 4
  • Completed year 12 (HSC or Equivalent)
  • Able to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
  • Have the ability to undertake a 240 hours practical placement in a regulated education and care service
  • Be able to satisfactorily participate in pre-enrolment interview
  • Have the ability to complete a first aid course (HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting)


The guided learning component of this qualification (i.e. supervised learning such as classes, lectures, tutorials). Students undertaking the course is face-to-face mode, this comprises of 84 weeks of tuition, 12 weeks holiday and individual study for approximately 10 hours per tuition week.

The CHC50115 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care has a mandatory work placement period of 240 hours. Students must complete work placement hours as well as all required units of competency outlined in the course structure to be deemed competent in this course and be issued certification.

Summary The Diploma qualifies individuals who apply integrated technical and theoretical concepts in a broad range of contexts to undertake advanced skilled or paraprofessional work and as a pathway for further learning
